This is very unfortunate that this even happened in the first place.. Basically VeriSign was just allowed to buy the internet. I wonder how many of those 9 voters got paid handsomely under the table.. We may never know...

If anything, the price should be going down ...

However, on the bright side, years ago, I believed that new registrations would cost hundreds of dollars each in the future ... fortunately that's not happened, and even under the current agreement, that's not going to happen ... domains will still remain affordable.

With the current Verisign scenerio, the price they charge at the end of 6 years will likely be around $7.86 to $9.00

Add in the ICANN "tax", and at the end of 6 years, domains will likely cost about 60% more than what they do today... no where near hundreds, etc which is good ... even at ~$15 a pop retail, domains would remain a great value.
