... on a home business / mlm type page. More than double of anything else I've had in the last year, usually clicks are well under 50 cents. I guess ppc isn't quite dead yet!

Nice!

Two days ago, I had a click that Parked.com estimated at $1.14 ... but the next day, it was marked down to $.07! :sigh2:

Wow.
What is the category?

I wonder how much advertiser pay for that one click?
So, this advertiser is willing to pay that much money although
they have no idea whether that click will convert or not.

I am thinking advertiser is paying around $100/click?
If I assume conversion is 10% (very very high), then acquisition cost is $1,000 +/-

Consolidation loans.

Was doing the math myself. It would have to be a high closing ratio to be profitable for the advertiser.

That truly is an amazing click. I was thinking it must be gaming but those finance/loan clicks are pretty strong too (but $36?, amazing.)

I was happy :)

Been working on my financial sites for a few months now trying to bring them online as fast as possible.

Whilst you're relying on a substantially lower conversion rate, versus a relatively high CTR, I think a lot of you guys (especially those in finance or insurance niches) should really look into some CPA programs.
A number of them do have entire site solutions, and you could simply 301 to those pages.

The sites are already optimized for high conversation rates, and the average payout is about $35 per conversion on insurance leads.
We're talking leads here, by the way, not even filled in sales.

in the past i tried a couple of those site solutions and the traffic never converted, maybe it was because the volume too was low.

seems people will click a link on a parked page to "see" what the site is about, but when it comes to actually filling out a form on a page...many are reluctant to give up info.

perhaps others have had better experiences than i did...

Indeed. All I ask is 10 per day :)

Had the same experience as you.. And it's tough finding quality advertisers for many financial products as well. There are quite a few smaller companies, but the names people recognize usually seem to do more direct advertising than affiliate programs. I have no idea why they would spend so much on ppc ads yet not even have affiliate relationships setup.

The solution is to build your own webpage and put some ppc ads on there, and also some affiliate links to CPA programs. For content, write an article on the subject matter, or better yet write an article describing the company with the CPA program, if it makes sense to do so.

IMHO...

Because there are too many tapes and hoops to make any changes.

Most of time, top decision makers have no idea alternative
solutions even exist.

Lower level managers who know there are hundred times better
alternative solutions do not want to rock the boat.

Known brands continue to hire ad agencies because they've
been doing it so long and they rarely want to replace it
with something new/unknown.

Very good point.

Ad agencies want YOU (the product brand) to believe that you can not be successful without them. That is what it is all about.

Many start up companies are finding that the talent for marketing, SE, and promotion is commonplace. Freelancers or even internal hires are making many startups successful. Viral marketing and social networking is becoming huge.

This is exactly what advertising agencies do not want anyone to know. They do not want you to even think you can design your own web site, choose you own affiliates, or promote your own product from within.

These are all old business models that will cause the undoing, downsizing, and dissolving of many agencies.
