Someone contacted me offering USD 1200 for fetchcash.com.
(not the first time I get an offer for it)

I pointed NS to SEDO to proceed with auction/sale, but the buyer didn't contact me again.

Isn't this behavior unusual for potential buyers?

If I'd not used sedo before I would be put off. What's the problem with dealing with the buyer directly?

Alternatively, maybe they saw the sedo page and decided to contact you directly to try to negotiate a lower price.

Either way, my opinion would be sell it at that price TBH.

Depends on how you presented it. I've found buyers generally like using Sedo as an escrow, and it takes the trust factor out of the equation. But, if you were too aggressive they might have gotten cold feet and thought they were overpaying. You also mentioned "auction" - that can turn some buyers off.

Funny you metioned this. I just received an email yesterday from a potential end-user who was originally interested in one of my names. His email stated that he was not interested in any type of auction and basically thanks but no thanks. The best part is that there actually was no acution. LOL. Its good to kick yourself in the ass sometimes. Now I have to play Mr. Bull**** to try and save the sale.

I've moved almost all of my names to "fixed price - buy it now" listings. It just cuts out a lot of garbage and I've found that my sales and final average sale price actually increased. When I do get email inquiries, I first just refer them to my sales page at Sedo for that domain. I still bargain a bit if they contact through email, but I've found their opening offers are much more realistic after seeing my fixed price. When we reach an agreement, I just change the listing price at Sedo and they check out.

Yes go to sedo and change it to buy it now THEN email him and tell him the process. Go to sedo, find name and make sure it says buy it now. Then you buy it and it instantly goes into your account.

Flakey is the norm for potential buyers - there are lots of potential buyers throwing offers out and then falling off the face of the earth...but I am confused as to why you would want to give a commission to sedo - especially when they do not provide the lead..

If someone contacts me, there is not a chance I want to give that commission away. I use escrow.com

I agree with curecancer. Though not all buyers wish to do business that way.

I do business with anybody who's got money. Whether that's someone who's transparent and an open book, or hiding behind a broker such as Sedo is no odds to me. All money is green.

For the $1,200 offer, if it's still valid, take it and don't ask any questions.

This isn't a name I would pay reg fee for personally, perhaps the buyer just likes the keyword combination.

It's the old bird in the hand versus two in the bush argument. I think you're better off with a sure $1,200, as opposed to holding out for, say, $3,000 that may never come.

I had an offer on a Sedo once in the $1500 range. I countered a little higher and didn't hear back from the potential buyer. The offer expired. About a week later, he put his bid in again saying he had just gotten busy. So maybe this one will be back too.

Well half the time they get buyers remorse and split and the other time they will want the domain and contact you again.
I do follow ups and get well we don't think this will seo good for us and I just laugh.

Banned from escrow.com years ago because buyer and seller had same computer/ip address.

$1200 is a fortune for a domain like fetchcash.com.
If it were me, i'd take the money and run.. THEN i'd
do a little victory dance in the style of MC HAMMER,
and collapse in to my favourite chair wondering how
on earth I got to be so lucky...
