Has anyone heard any company going after cybersquatters with ID protection? Has anyone heard registrar been forced to reveal the credit card/ID information? Are there links to such cases?

ID protection is not meant to hide one's identity. It's purely for privacy & anti-spam purposes. A registrar can be subpoenaed to lift the ID protection when presented with lawful reasons to do so. Some registrars are more eager to comply, such as GoDaddy. Others require court orders instead of a C&D letter. By the way, none would reveal CC info.

Microsoft is suing another 217 John Does that used privacy protection services to cloak their identities. As part of the lawsuit, Microsoft said it would subpoena multiple domain name registrars that the software maker said infringed on its intellectual property.

Scammers hardly need privacy services since they put fake info anyway.
