I've been debating getting a copy of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" but I see several versions online.

Has anyone read it? What versions would be as true to the original?

Hi Dragger,

Your taking me back over 30 years! It was one of the standard texts of course.

I would suggest actually invest in a paper copy than an online copy - for no other reason than when you get frustrated with it you can throw it across the room, the book will survive whereby your computer wouldn't! Then when you realise the error in understanding was yours and not Sun Tzu's you can pick up the book again and read it again.

Sorry I cannot be more help, but you have started me thinlking it is about time I re-read the text. :eek:k:

I saw a documentary on this not too long ago. It was pretty good.

I also recall reading a book several years ago on business strategies based on the text.

Beyond that, I swear it seems like there was a movie made all in Chinese (or perhaps Japanese) with English Subtitles. The director's name escapes me but was a very famous asian director, author. The movie I am thinking of (if it was based on Sun Tzu's work) was over 4 hours long. They actually built a city and set in the plains of China just for this movie.

Yup, not at all uncommon to find this as required reading in an MBA program.

Charlie Sheen (I know, he certainly acts nuts) had a close-up view of the Art of War book on camera for a long time last night on his latest twitter/ustream broadcast. I also have owned the interesting book for many years.

yeah, read it some time ago. Frankly it's a little boring to read - it can be summarized by just one word, guess which one? ;)

I also saw a documentary on it recently, it was pretty good and had interesting examples from history to convey the points. A 2009 1.5 hour movie on the history channel called San Tzu's Art of War.
