Just wondered if the texting craze has taken off yet in the u.s ? as i heard there were 27 million texts sent fro the live8 concert,i know that some phones did not support text at one stage,is that still so ?

If it has not really taken off yet will it ?

Thanks

Here I thought that US would be one of the first to use SMS, not the last :p

Not quite sure but i here the u.s are a little behind on phone technology not so much the handsets but the networks supporting text messaging,i presume the problem is the size of the u.s as its so vast.

U.k is the place to make money via text messages at the moment but i think that will change soon and the u.s could lead the world in the text message business or am i wrong and it will never really take off ?

All thoughts from my u.s counterparts would be appreciated or anybody !

The US is behind Europe and Asia in general mobile phone use.
that includes sms, video, mobile gaming etc... (and even ringtones)
the reason is rather ironic.
the reason is because they were one of the first in the world to widely adopt 'cell' phones.
this early adopter method had a boomerang effect.
the next geneneration phones using GSM hit the rest of the world utilyzing much more technology, which quickly caught on in most parts of the world.
GSM has finally caught up in most parts of the US, but is still behind, as are 3G phones.
eventually, I would assume they will catch up.
