So here I am in Portland, Oregon. My bank flagged my card since it didn't recognize my traveling extravaganza.. I have to go in tomorrow when I get back in town to get it straightened out. The hotel stated they can no longer service me. Which is sad, but it's business.

I am at a diner with the crazy chick talking to me under her breath but making no sense..

Have you ever been stranded? Ditched?

Scary stories help me pass time while I wait for the train, which I thankfully had.

banks are such retards. gee, you go somewhere so they assume its not you and cut you off? Do you have to tell them when you vacation or just travel somewhere? Crazy.

It's weird. Cannot that be resolved on the phone? On my side (Romania) the bank simply calls me if they see unusual and big payments.

That situation should be able to be resolved over the phone. I've never heard of one actually having to come into the bank to resolve. They ask for ssn, name, address, and most recent transaction you can recall. Presto...

I have a small town bank. They have to call me on my home phone. It's all good in the end, must be something in the air making things move a certain way.

Eh... My toes are cold, soon I'll be in my house, very soon!

You need more than one credit card in your wallet

Yeah, last winter I took my snowmobile about 80 miles north on the trails but they weren't clearly marked so I ended up going about 10 miles into the un-groomed woods and got stuck, no cell reception, took me about 3 hours to dig my 2003 Ski-doo MZX 800 out of the snow...I thought I was a goner. ;)

That's been my experience as well, You call the toll free # on the back of the card and it's resolved within minutes.

I dont run into this problem when traveling within the US though, only overseas.

Or a debit card... They dont flag those.

If your credit card bank causes you problems like this, they firstly should be able to sort it out over the phone at the time of the verification/approval/transaction process. If not, make sure to sue them when you get home.

There's nothing like coming home (and eating!) after being in a less than comfortable environment. :)
