Hello everyone.

Quick intro:
I am college educated, but have been working as a retail manager for the past five years and absolutely hate my job, though I am thankful to have a job :) I hope to change career paths soon. Lately, I have been obsessed with working for myself. I am a bit of a domain noob, but I feel like I am catching on fast. I have been fairly active on another board and hope to be on this one as well.

Since June, I have amassed around 200 domains, maybe 50 of which aren't utter crap. I hope to improve that ratio and to continue having a blast doing it. I like .us domains a lot, but feel like they may be a bit speculative for me at this juncture. Any opinions from open-minded and experienced domainers on this would be much appreciated. I hope to sell around half of my domains soon so that I may purchase a few higher quality names. Just this week, I have started contacting possible end users with some of my names but have had no luck yet.

I am attempting to learn development along with domaining, but my skills are limited to tweaking WordPress templates at the moment.

Anyway, it's good to be here! Thanks for reading.

Welcome! I haven't had much luck with .us domains, there are a lot of guys on this board who will tell you to stick to .com simply because that is the defacto TLD. As long as you acquire meaningful names that have value to end-users, you can do pretty well with any extension (if you pitch it the right way :)) There are a ton of well-informed, experienced guys here who can advise you, along with years of useful information. Good luck, feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for your reply. I can def say .com is my planned destination. I haven't located any end users yet for my .us names (with my limited efforts), so it may be true that .us is a difficult sale to end users right now. I'm still trying to perfect my sales letters, so hopefully I will have a better idea in a few weeks. I have had great success getting nice keywords ranked in Bing/Yahoo SERPs with the .us extension, though, and have had moderate success with Google rankings, so I do think I see some potential with the extension. Most of the ones I have put an hour or two of work into look like they will at least pay for their reg fees, while some look like they will do quite a bit more than that.
