I am a complete beginner. Please can I be told what to read in order to start learning about domain flipping?
At first I just want to find out where to buy domains from and how they are sold?

Please help?

Hi from Cumbria! :)

First of all welcome to DNF, it is the best, but like everything it has its quirks, but no better site to learn on.

- Start just reading the various threads on here (DNF) - I would suggest spending a couple of months reading and learning.

- Realise that there are no hard and fast 'rules' about domain value/s. A domains value depends on what the seller is willing to sell a domain for AND what a buyer is willing to pay for it, when these two figures meet then there is the chance for a sale.

- There are many places to register domains, www.GoDaddy.com is the largest registrar in the world, there customer service is also good and 24/7 over the phone with a UK number to phone as well (they are in Arizona, US). DO NOT BUY .co.uk from them, they are too expensive, use someone like www.123-reg.co.uk.

- There are hundreds of different extensions available, some have restrictions on, like the .us, but others anyone can register.

- When you have domains then list them for sale on Sedo.com (there are many other sites, but you will find out about them as you progress). Do not pay for an appraisal of a domain, they are worthless!!!!

- If your membership level allows you can post domains for sale in the appropriate section on here.

Best advise though is to read, read, read, and watch out for hoaxes (there are a ton of them, you will learn about them during reading this forum).

Drop me a PM if you need to ask a question.

Again welcome aboard.

Welcome. Are you actually from Durham Town? that's a nice little place. So far as flipping, you might want at look at this site: http://www.nameflipper.com/faq.php

It's getting dated, and aimed at people who bought his lists, but still very solid and detailed info for flipping to end users.
Of course read all you can here and on other forums. Just remember that most posters have no clue what they're talking about, while a few posters make brilliant points. Separating the wheat from the chaff is up to you.
