Hi All,

It's been awhile since I've been on the forum, so please excuse me if I should be posting this somewhere else.

I won a NameJet auction today for a great domain name ("city"apartments.com). The "city" has a population over 400,000 in the US. I can't recall if there is a tool that will tell me how many people type-in the particular domain. Using Google let's me know that there are just shy of 50,000 searches per month for the two keywords in the domain, but I'm looking for just direct/type-in traffic numbers.

Any help you can offer is appreciated-thanks!

Bill

If it's a city, advertise in that city... Posters, magnets, leaflets etc. Just pay a few students $10/hour to distribute them and that will get you visitors.

Why don't you turn it on , see what traffic is like. When you compile 30 days of stats contact local realtors and see if they would pay you a ref fee when you send them business. You would just need to capture their data with nice splash page.
Good Luck

Good to see people are still feeding the monster before doing their research!

Many times I buy a name and am suprised by how much traffic it really get's in a very good way, but then the same is true vice versa of course. Best way to find out is to know what the hell you are doing ahead of time and that only can come with experience from dealing with traffic names of type-in origin but even then sometimes they can suprise ya.

Same here. I have purchased names at the forum for low xxx bargain prices which get 100s of valuable uniques in good categories and ongoing for months or years, but others which started out well but kept on sliding month after month, so it definately can work both ways.
