Host Goes Bankrupt, How to Regain Domain?

My buddy's host went out of business. He registered the domain through the host, and it still shows his personal information through the whois info.

The domain does not expire until November this year, is there anything he can do to get it back?

Yeah -- probably he registered though a registrar, so try contacting them about the situation. You can see who the registrar is via the whois information.
