I was wondering if somebody could help me out learning what the most ideal way of creating pages and hosting them. I would like to develope a mix of adsense pages along with other websites i want to build into full fledge websites (blog with ecommerce site). Would anybody reccomend using godaddys dedicated server for somthing like this or maybe something like a host gator server? Any ideas what would benefit me the most?

You need to answer some questions first:
- How good are you with maintaining the server, CPanel, WHM, etc...
- How many sites, disk space, banhdwidth

I would dedicate most if not all my time to making sure i can maintain the server. I cant say im that good at all, but i have help around me that know a thing or 2 about hosting sites.

i currently have nothing but air. I have the names and i want to build the adsense sites using simple templates. And really want to learn and build some niche websites that have video feed uploaded from users and a blog attached (something very similar to youtube, but niched with ecommerce links.) I like to build about 5 sites like this. I know this will be very draining on the bandwith and i will eventually upgrade as i go. I was thinking of using about 500mb of bandwith to start and eventually upgrade.

I was thinking of using this from my reseller account (godaddy backend):

Core 2 Duo - 2.13 GHz -
Windows Server 2003 Std Edition -- (i heard i should go with enterprise??)
Dual 300 GB Drives
RAID 1 (disk mirroring)
1GB Ram
Plesk Control Panel with 30 or 100 domains... could start with 30 then upgrade
External Hardware Firewall

This comes out to about 238 a month, but i get back about 50 or so i would say in commision. I deff need some help.. Thanks for everybody looking.

You don't really need a dedicated server and you may not need Windows either.
What you want is VPS - you can start 20GB and increase as you need them.

Managing those video uploads can be a problem. And be sure that your blog system can be updated all at the same time, instead of several script installations.
I never used Godaddy's dedicated servers, so I can't give a personal opinion, but their shared hosting isn't as good as their domain service.

So basically im looking for one script that can run a blog system and upload videos quickly at the same time? Does Anybody have this script or something i can look at to figure out what i want to spend the next few months learning and growing with? I could really use some help here. Is there any way to hire like a mentor or something of this nature? I really have nothing else to offer in return except some monetary value at this time. I feel frustrated sometimes since i cant really find a step by step instruction on what to do. I know its not simple, but i have the time and energy for something new in life and i really want to do this. Ok, im done ranting.

Hello Anthony,

No, you need a separated blog and a video system, but both systems should let you manage several installations from one place.
If you install each script, at each domain, when it comes the time to update the scripts (bugs, exploit flaws, etc) you will have a ton of work. Believe me.
I had a $1000 script (membership site) that I wouldn't use because of that. Lots of constant updates, and I have no time to update 4 or 5 sites everytime. So I bought another one that costs $2000 (and lets me centralize everything).

It's easier for the blog, but the video system... a lot more difficult.
Are you sure you want to go the video way? Even one dedicated server may not be sufficient if you get popular. And the return of investment isn't too high, unless you plan to go public on your stock market :)

I thought about providing blog hosting for more than 2 years, and I decided not to. Every available platform has lots of problems - bugs or management.

I think a reseller plan just works fine for your need. Either resellerzoom or hostgator provides good reseller plans and if you really need more control or bandwidth, upgrade to VPS later and lastly a (dedicated) server.

ResellerZoom is one of my 5 webhosters, and I would definitely don't recommend them for such a project. Static pages are ok, but dynamic sites with lots of sql connections wouldn't work great.

isnt a reseller plan gong to cost you more in the long run? Also im hearing that having different hosting sites for adsense is the way to go. Im assuming having different ip addys for a limited number of sites is the norm... is this true?

so im getting 1 linux dedicated with host gator and im getting 1 vps server under my reseller account at parkfish. I want to test both as i go. So i have a huge list of domains ready for adsense. Now what? do i get a template and do it myself or just hire somebody like a whypark or ppc-sites.com to do them for me? Or both? I only hope this message goes to the right person that can help me.......
