How about traffic certification?

Buyer certification is good. How about certifying the traffic on a domain itself that is listed on Sedo?

This is just an idea, comments are welcome on this.

For example I see a domain name 'mygreatdomain.com' on Sedo for $ 25,000 which shows 9,000 views per month. Sedo will obviously have better insider info on this domain about where the traffic is coming from (referral), host info etc..

If the seller is faking the traffic by forwarding/buying the traffic from other sources, we will not be knowing about it. Some times, it becomes so hard to judge. I am sure many buyers have lost money by buying domains with fake traffic.

If Sedo can certify that the traffic is genuine, that will be a cool feature. Potential buyer can actually pay a small fee for that kind of insider information (with vital stats mentioned above) or 'traffic certificate' on a domain. This applies to all parking companies in general.

Any comments?

thanks,

they could simply put their sedo tracker on each parked page by default when parking a domain, like the tracker they put on the websites for sale, then you could see the stats with referers and all.......but they won't.

Hey Guys,

We do regular fake checks for customers that have domains with traffic that seems a little shady. If a customer has fake traffic we will take the proper steps in making sure that their domain is not sold on Sedo.

No offense to you Sara, but the "traffic reports" shown by Sedo are kind of a running joke in the domain industry.

What buyers really need to see is the source of all the traffic.

What if you have get traffic certification? Do you think that sedo will you your money back if something goes wrong? Noway.

Buyer certification is a joke. I can open 5 accounts with bogus info right now and certify all of them in 5 minutes. SMS... Give me a break.

I am curious as to how reliable the traffic numbers are on Sedo's auction. Like the domain ensestsekshikayeleri.com that is on auction. It says it gets 17,349 unique visitors each month. I am assuming it's a misspelling for an adult site? Am I missing something?

I'm new here so I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing before buying anything on auction.

"ensest seks hikayeleri" means something in some language. Try to translate it.

Don't buy anything that looks suspicious.
Research is the only way to go. And more research...

I offered to buy some names with huge traffic lately and requested a traffic test from the sellers. Then they will never respond! leaving much to doubt..

Where would you say is the 'safest' place to buy traffic names? At least from a newbie point of view?

There isn't a safest place. The only one that can save you is yourself by learning more about domains so you can research and minimise the risk.
Buying pure generic type in names is one of the best things to do.

Thanks.

Guess I'll keep researching before I take the plunge.
