Parking is just not working for me. The main problem is the PPC payout (which sucks) is only as good as the ads served up by a third party to a parking company- according to my keyword inputs and the ads are pretty bad to inapropriate.

I have about 400 quality generic DN's and over the last 3 months parking has earned a grand total 0f 10 odd Euro with plenty of page views but no click throughs. All on Sedo. I did have one (my first) $1500 sale on a newly regged name though thanks to sales strategy guidance of one of the forum members here.

I have rather niche markets and don't do typos. Some of my names are in an Industry which hasn't fully matured yet.

There were a couple of people who suggested on the chat forums I'd be better off creating 200+ websites on either gator or another better site -one whose name escapes me so I can set my own keywords and garner all revenues.

My question is which is the most cost effective website host/ builder with decent templates and tools and the best support and how shouldI go about proper development to earn at least the reg fees back as I'd like to hold many of these names for the medium term- but they just have to earn... like more than what sedo's paying-or any other parking site for that matter- I operate from a country which has expensive bandwidth and appalling slow speeds.- we pay like 7 Euro per 1GB!! so I need to consider this when maintaining or establishing sites

Any advices and strategy appreciated. I have trawled thru the forums but I can't seem to get the right direction in which to head...

Many thanks

Hi Peter,

Have a look at AustralianMobiles.com to see if it's something you think might work for you.

I've started to develop some names with another forum member Joe (I Sold Grandma) and we've begun with a few generic domains - this kind of thing could be good if you've got descriptive generics, especially industry related.

We're hosting on DreamHost - inexpensive, lots of space, easy panel, few limitations.
They have an easy one-click WordPress installer to make it trivial to install and update.
Joe uses a BANS account to facilitate a shopping page (Ebay affiliate) - use anything in place of that if you prefer.
We also have a simple forum installed to grow communities around the names.
For your Wordpress themes, choose any of the 50 free ones that come with the DreamHost install or what we've done which is, bought the developer licence for wpremix theme for unlimited domains.
I guess the whole show costs less than $300 and some basic per month for your choice of hosting plan. Uploading the theme is not a big ftp job.
You could work on installing some variation like this across your domains at a rate of (we figure) some dozen to two dozen per day depending on how much time you can spend in a zone with it.
In order to customise the wpremix theme, just create several unique files for the front page and upload them to the images dir.

If you need any help or more info, just PM me or Joe. I think a lot of domainers could have a few domains they could do something similar with if they're not getting parking revenues from them. Hope that's a help for you and others! Let us know.

Cheers,
Ben

Get some hosting and throw up some mini sites with well placed ads (adsense, referral /affiliate links etc..).

It requires hosting and work but the payouts are much higher since you're eliminating the middle-man (Sedo).

You just need basic HTML and maybe some CSS to throw up pages, make each mini site original (have friends write some articles if you're not fluent with the domain's industry for a few bucks or some beers).

Usually 3-10 pages is good. Maybe even throw up a basic blog (would require a database) and have friends post on there.

here's a cheap solution

at directnic, if you register or transfer a domain there, then you can get free hosting.

the free hosting has a catch -

you must have a banner of their's on the top and bottom of each page, which they will add when you upload your pages.

the benefit -
no bandwidth charges
unlimited pages
you can host all your domain "mini-stes" under 1 ip

cost $15 per year or cheaper if you purchase bulk promotion.

I can show example if you wish.

$15 per domain for directnic, not bad unless you have a lot of domains.

GoDaddy - $7 a month (discount if you prepay in advance) - $49 ($84 a year) but $10 domains (as low as $7 if you use discount codes, we'll assume $10 .com/ .net / .orgs).

GoDaddy starts to be cheaper when you have 17 domains (17 X $15 = $255 @ directnic, (17 * $10) + $84 = $254 @ GoDaddy).

Do the math, what seems less expensive in the beginning may end up costing more. Plus, if you go with another registrar ($10 a month seems pretty standard) and point the DNS to GoDaddy then if one goes under you're not completely SOL (like the people who had everything w/ RegFly when they went under).

Do the math before you jump in.
