how can i reduce my post content on my homepage (wordpress)?

Do you by any chance know how I could reduce my post content on my homepage (wordpress)

visit Toronto Domainer - it shows the entire post, I want to reduce it so they click on the title and read more.

Would appreciate your support.

In your wp post 'editors menubar' you should find a insert more tag.

Edit the index file from the theme and replace
<?php the_content(); ?>
with
<?php the_excerpt(); ?>

In your wp post 'editors menubar' you should find a insert more tag.

In the HTML editor click the "more" button.

In the visual (WYSIWYG) editor click the more button that is to the right of the "break link" button (and to the left of the spell checker button)

Put it where you want the preview to end.

(Note: this is with the most recent version of WP, it may be in different places with older versions).

This works, is their a way I can add "Read more" if you visit the site right now it doesn't display that...

You can also do something like:




<?php echo substr(get_the_content(),0,200) ."....<a href='".get_permalink()."'>Read More</a>"; ?>



Change the 200 to however many characters you want to show.
