Ok, I emailed the owner of a domain name, and we agreed on a price. I have never bought a domain from someone else though before. He says that I initiate the transfer and he will approve it. But I thought that he was the one who initiated it? How can I do this using GoDaddy. Thanks guys, I really need help :(

Get a Godaddy account, and tell him to do an owner transfer. It's free, and that's the correct way to do it, not a registrar transfer.

Do you mean the domain name is currently with GoDaddy.com, Mo Money?

If it is with another registrar, then it's a whole different story.

If you want to do Godaddy to other registrar or other registrar to Godady, you, the purchaser initiate the request as nameslave says.

If the domain is currently with Godaddy.com and you want to do the transfer using a Godaddy.com change of ownership, rather than a "renewal with other registrar+change of ownership at same time" this is different.

In this case the *current owner* initiates the transfer with the "change owner option" and one this is done Godaddy automatically sends an e-mail to the new owner with instructions on how to complete the transfer.

The domain name I want to buy is not registered at GoDaddy. But I want it to be transfered into my GoDaddy account.

In that case it is indeed you who needs to initiate the "transfer of registrar".

Click on the "risk-free US$7.75 transfer" link. This should add an extra year onto the domain.
