I am just starting to need my own web server. I understand you have to build a computer but that is all I understand. I have a few questions and if you can answer then I would greatly apreciate it.

How do you host alot of Visitors (what part in a server would do that)?

What is monthly bandwith? (what part can expand bandwith)?

How would you hook up a server rack to your server?

Can someone explain what I need to build?

If I have windows server operating system can it host cpanel?

If I want to open a hosting company how and what do I need as far as a server?

Thank you for anyone sharing videos or advice in helping me understand a server build.

I would check out webhostingtalk.com

If you are just starting out, you want to look into a "shared hosting" plan. A company will manage the server and rent you out a specified piece of hard drive space and bandwidth (i.e. data for your cellphone).

If you have any other questions you can also PM me. Just keep your posts in normal sized font.

The whole thing

What is monthly bandwith? (what part can expand bandwith)?

Bandwidth is the amount of data transmitted by the server(s) on your connection. Kinda like how much water flows into & out of your house.

How would you hook up a server rack to your server?
It's the other way around, but you won't need one for now. Worry about that later.

Can someone explain what I need to build?
A server is just a computer that has software that "serves" stuff through software installed on it; a web server has web serving software, a file server has file server software, etc.
If I have windows server operating system can it host cpanel?
Windoze sucks for countless reasons. Since you're starting out fresh, start out right. Go download a copy of CentOS (centos.org). Has everything you will need built right in. You can advance to BSD, Solaris, or other exotic operating systems once you get a grasp of the concepts involved.
If I want to open a hosting company how and what do I need as far as a server?
You will need to learn how to do it yourself, or hire people that already know the answer to that.

There is absolutely NO WAY you are going to build a server, launch it, keep it maintained and secure from attacks... oh, and run a hosting company.

That's like saying you want to create a company like Hertz and rent cars that you build yourself... and your questions are "what is a transmission", "how do I get a credit card" and "what is insurance". I don't mean to be rude, just showing you the analogy of what you're suggesting and the level of questions you're asking.

As others suggested, just started by setting up a website yourself using a cheap shared hosting plan. Learn the basics of the existing systems before trying to build one from scratch.

I am capable of building 1 to hundred of servers or the whole data center but I would not do it.
It is not worth the time and the headache. Rent a server and you can sleep at night.

There is also the BIG question would your ISP allow you to run a hosting service? Honestly, if you're just staring out go with shared. If you REALLY want to attempt a web hosting companty then get at least VPS hosting and sell space on that.

If you are intent on doing this, then a white label host/server would be your best bet, something like rackspace. Let someone else maintain the equipment and such.
