I'm looking for your input since the fraud is going up every day.

How "big trader" pay for a trade over $500, $1000, $10000 ?

    • Paypal;
    • Escrow;
    • Wire;
    • Other.
Your input is important to increase DNForum members safety.

Thanks

credit cards are the best for purchases online, it protects you from fraud.. if no domain is delivered, you get a refund from visa.

2nd choice escrow_com is also good. Paypal is the worst, they dont insure domain sales, as they claim its a virtual good and its not covered under paypal protection plan...

below $10k

if it's someone whom I trust and have established biz relationship with, then paypal is first option. whether

I'm buying or selling.

for others it's 3rd party escrow or cash delivery to my hand.

For me, the biggest paypal I paid is low $x,xxx range to a dnf member; the biggest paypal I received is $8,000 from one of the big brothers in domain bussiness.

For escrow_com, I had ever paid a sale for mid $xx,xxx range.

thats it, method of payment is directly proportional to how much trust there is between the parties. Thats one reason DNF does so well, theres a high level of trust between established members.

I send sellers a paypal masspay from available funds when I buy a domain and have done so up to $xx,xxx before, if I don't trust someone to deliver a domain then I don't buy it usually. I have found many people will push a domain to you before you even pay if they are new with no trader ratings and you request this early on in the deal, esp if you have a high trader rating...you would be suprised. Thing is, they are actually somewhat protected at their registar in most cases if for some reason they were not paid for the domain and it's pretty easy to prove this and have it "unpushed"
Now, escrow.com of course if the best choice but you can get screwed there too...esp if someone immediately puts a name in privacy you push to them and then claims they never got it..or if you push it to an account with details different than the person buying it...so be careful because there are alot of damn scammers lately and we just had someone trying to steal a domain via escrow and it's a big headache to say the least! Pay attention to details! :yes:

to be honest i never tried escrow , in the beginning i only paid or received via Western Union but now i am doing small sales via PayPal
