Well nobody but Sega will touch it, and if they want it they'll come and get it for free.

There was reason that this name was available.

Its blantant squatting...

aaa ferget it whats tha point?

Its a great name you'll make millions, Sega will praise you for profiting off their branding. They will even offer to buy it from you for Huge money!

No offence...but what exactly did you hope to hear on a obvious TM issue name like this?

As I said I didn't even think about it when I reged it. You know how it is sometimes when you find a good Domain, sometimes you act to quick to aquire the Domain before someone else does. I am not a squatter.

Obviously if they come looking for me I will hand it over to them, it was simply an error on my part due to exicitment.

Thank you,

Mike

Sorry ... I wasn't trying to be too much of a ••••. : )

I understand the excitement and itchy trigger finger...I think we all do.
I apologize if I implied that you were a squatter... I was using the term in a general manner.

So much for my posting while hung over ... just a tad on the edgy side.

Maybe in addition to... "don't register while drunk"... we could add "don't post in forums...while hung over" :D

if they put a site up, would that be a TM issue? Surely a etailer selling sega games would be allowed to use this name? Anyway, Sega is dead, long live Nintendo :D

If you are a gamestore, like Gamestop, you could use this as a keyword forwarder, but I imagine you bought it as specualtion. It can be taken from anybody that has it, so basically, you can only give it away, but good luck.

1. link the name to Sega competitor
2. contact Sega to sell the name to them for $200.
3. they'll buy it from you because
A. it's cheaper than filing a suit
B. the transfer is faster
C. win-win game

PS: I wouldn't recommend anyone to do this though...

They have in-house lawyers and lawyers on retainer!!!!!For these purposes.

They won't pay 200, they will consider that extorsion.

Prasit...Why not tell him to contact Segas onstaff lawyers directly?

As said...their lawyers are on retainer/staff and whats $1000 to a corporation like Sega? They will sue you just on the basis that you are trying to extort them as Doberry said.

TIppy..DO NOT take Prasit's suggestion...its a bad idea. The problems it could cause you far exceed what $200 could buy you.

Its ideas like this that create the stereotype cybersquatter profile that cause problems for all of us trying to do legit, ethical business. The corporations dont need any other ammo to harass us.

Either drop, let expire or if you really have to do something with it redirect to a site that sells Sega and if they contact you , very kindly apologize and offer them the name,

I would drop it and take the $10 loss.... imho

A lot of people don't understand that cybersquatting is "extorsion"!

It's the same as opening a restaurant with golden arches, and calling it "McDonalds Hamburgers" instead of "McDonalds", and calling them up and asking for money to buy you out.

Prasit, do not encourage people to get themselves unwittingly in trouble.

Sega still very actively produces new games, such as World Series Baseball, NFL 2k3, etc. You could have built an 'unofficial' site about these games, link to merchants selling Sega Games and I doubt you would have had a TM issue.

However, like I told another member that registered ElectronicArts.info, your posting of this domain for appraisal here can be used against you to establish bad faith on your part should Sega ever decide to bring action against you.

:shy:

frankly for me. i don't mind paying $200 for that kinds of name if i'm a Sega managment.

well, you offer ideas + name, you deserve $200 as a reward.

telll you my story about e-polo.com.

I regged e-polo.com, and contact polo.com to sell it at $500. They didn't response. Then I let it expired and a guy grabbed it.
Two months later, polo.com file a suit for $299+lawyer fee (you never get lawyer for free even he is your staff, he needs salary)

What is the result? the complaints denied, and that guy still own e-polo.com. So, polo.com wasted $299+lawyer fee and get nothing.

what is the moral of this story?
- Don't be too cheap to pay for a good business idea.
- Opportunity doesn't always come free.
