Before you jump to conclusion, let me state yes I know about quality of links.

You can get PR8 by just one link from PR10 page.

But my question is statistically what range of backlinks do I need to get PR 7,8 ,9 page.

like 100K -150K links for an average PR7 site?

Or state your highest PR page and the total no. of backlinks.

No one will jump to conclusions here before you ask your question.

IMHO, PR is pretty meaningless. DNF home only shows PR5 on my Google bar.

You will probably need a statistician indeed to answer your questions as the algorithms used for PR are complex to say the least.

Good luck.

PR is calculated on a number of factors. Incoming Internal and External Links, Link relavancy, # of links on the linking page etc to name a few.

It depends, you might get PR7 from 1 PR7 page if it's a high 7 with no/few outgoing links.

Thanks,

to me it depends on how many links incoming vs. outgoing. I have been from a pr6 to 7. One time it dropped due to too many outgoing links. Then someone took interest in my site which was a pr8 and i was brought to a pr7 but he dropped to a pr7.

Outgoing links devalues a sites PR because this way your passing some PR to other sites, instead of your own. So outgoing links never help your site, unless it's a link swap...

Thanks,

Download the Google Toolbar and turn on the "Page Rank" option.
It shows PR of all the sites you visit.

And PR does matter...

How do outgoing links devalue the PR and why?

Becouse the outgoing link takes away your pagerank and gives it to the website. I think
