How much to pay for domain name?

I want to set up a website for making games. Currently I am in the process of finding domain names. I wonder that the domain has to pay a lot of money and the domain has to pay a lot of money, how is it different? Hope everyone can give me the answer.

if you just want to create a game making website,
then you don't necessarily have to pay more than $10 for a domain name, depending on which registrar you use and if the names you choose, are "available to register".
