Well,

The question is quite simple.

I was wondering if anyone knows a site that shows the statistics on how often people will not put the period between the www and the domain name.

It doesn't seem that often, so I was wondering about the statistics.

You could try typing in www.example.com 100 times fast and see what your personal stats are. I imagine that finger size and keyboard design would be factors. Maybe right-handed people have better period control also?

As browsers now will do the http://www. for you, so you only have to input the raw domain name. I would think that type-ins on these will gradually disappear almost entirely. However, there will always be the odd one, just as there is always the odd one that posts a technical question on browsing in the News Thread!

www dot is said in person, on the radio, and is in print, so some people will still always type it.

Different Internet software, including browsers, handles things in different ways.

Also, some websites force no www, some force always www, and some allow both.

Sometimes you can hear people on the radio who seem to confuse web page address and e-mail addresses because they exchange “dot” for “at” sometimes.

I think that www is here to stay for at least another five years.

This may still be convention for ASCII in the US. The Chinese don't us it for IDN.
