I just bought a domain name which was delivered to me as an Enom account with this name. Now from earlier postings on this forum I understand that Enom has a pyramid-like structure with resellers, subresellers, subsubresellers etc.

First of all, can anybody explain me how this works exactly?

Secondly, how can I find out where I am in this pyramid?

And most importantly: how safe is my domain? Can anybody who is above me in the hierarchy still access my name?

Thanks for al answers provided,
Hans

Do you log in thru enom.com or thru access.enom.com ?
It's much safer in he 1st case than the 2nd - but i'm semi-new to enom myself.

Is it worth moving it to your registrar and paying the extra years registration fee.

Thanks for the info Big Fart. If this is correct, then it's especially important to get an account under a master reseller that you trust.

I have a reseller account (not master) and if I attempt to change DNS on a sub-account that I have created, I get this message no the last page -- 'The page you are trying to access is only available to the original LoginID.'

Just a couple of days ago, I signed up for $6.95 account thru a senior member on this forum. Does it mean that down the road whatever domains I've in my account can be potentially controlled by this original re-seller? If so, this type of account would be of little use to not just me but anybody? Please expand on this.

Just create a regular old enom account to house your domains, and use your cheap reseller account for registering and renewing your domains. When it's time to renew, push the domain(s) into your cheapo sub-account, renew them, and push them back into your regular main enom account. Best of both worlds.

This is the bug which I have found out.

Maybe ENOM people will come to this forum?

It needs to be corrected.

It may not be a bug on their system. I believe the owner of master account responsible in providing support for his/her resellers. He/she needs to have full access in order to do that.
Am I wrong on this issue?

Yes theoretically right!

Because the original reseller shall be responsible for all domain purchase under him.

eNom will try at last to recover from him in case there is any fraud card or transactions (say his reseller and sub....subreseller has no money in their account (they resell at at cost ... in this case)

Click on myDomains. You have 3 tabs that list your domains.

My domains, Names of Interest, sub-account domains.

Click on Sub-account domains and it list each sub account name.

You can click on the name there to goto the control panel.

Anyway the master account has that and if I bought an account from anybody that I didn't trust 100% then I wouldn't trust the account with any decent names.

The master account could transfer them out easy by changing the email address.

Hi BigFart,

Take a try: If Im a subreseller of you, I push my domains all to a subaccount of myself, can you find my domains now?

I don't even want that responsibility. You can be liable for all accounts under you if somebody breaks into your account.

It personally doesn't bother me as much as it would somebody that has a sub account.

The best thing to do would be to bombard ENOM with emails and tell them to change this.

And DryHeat it does not mean "potentially controlled by this original re-seller?", it is controlled by the re-seller.

When I do this it only shows me the domains that are in my retail account, not the domains in my subreseller accounts. Yours shows the names in your subreseller accounts also?

That is true Wiz, it only shows domains registered on sub-retail accounts and not sub-reseller accounts. I looked and I can't access any domains registered by my sub-resellers.

That is good news!

So if you are using a sub-reseller account under someone's master account, that no body can move or modify your domains?
Only those who are using sub-retailer accounts could be modified or moved?

That makes me feel better, however my re-tailers people could feel worse now:cry:

I hope enom.com would fix or improve this weak point ASAP, or I would consider to ask my sub-retailer users to transfer their domains away from me in case anything wrong that I have to take responsibility.

If the orginal reseller go out of business, they can change your price back to the retail price because the ETP no longer exist. Unless, you found some one to set you as reseller of him.

Yes, this seems to be the case. I feel much better about it myself because I have several sub-resellers under me.

I can understand still having access to retail accounts since as a "reseller" I am acting as the registration provider (registrar). This doesn't concern me, and can actually be a positive thing.

It's not much different than the sys admins at any other registrar having access to their customer's domains.

In summary, if you have a sub-reseller account with enom, your parent account cannot manage your domains.
