http://sedo.com/auction/detail/longtoes.com/62538_us__ . If one of you are selling longtoes.com , here is your free advertisement.

I have to ask though. How on earth can someone market a domain like "longtoes.com" . There isn't a single use I can think of for such a bad name. How on earth did the seller manage to con someone into bidding on it? I'd even be surprised to see a $60 minimum bid. Much less $1,000 .

Unless I'm missing something....

Maybe a medical condition related? Toe rings? To market a variety of nail polish?

Who knows but like Clever said the buyer could have ideas for it. Maybe its a toe fetish person?

Unless I'm missing something....

1. you shouldn't be criticizing what another person's domain is selling for or the current bid amount.

2. you shouldn't be posting any links to sedo auctions here

3. when people start criticizing the price or bids on your domains, then....

4. imo...

Adwords keyword tool exact match global monthly search volume "long toes" = 33,100. Estimated average CPC = $0.24. Trellian Keyword Discovery "long toes" = 348. SEO Book Keyword Tool "long toes" = 339.

Your signature link offers better examples of keyword weakness, for example "eat my fork" or "ugly fish forum". The fact that these names are registered is more surprising than the aftermarket bid for "long toes."

eatmyfork and uglyfishforum are(were) both personal websites. They weren't bought to sell. No one in their right mind would buy them. Which is the same way I feel about "longtoes.com" .

I'll take that as a compliment that the only domains you listed were the ones that aren't really for sale.

Two ideas spring to mind. First of all, a site about a dinosaur called Longtoes that gives information about all kinds of dinosaurs.

Second, a couple of years ago I read a report on some medical research that showed that people with second toes longer than their big toes were more intelligent than those whose big toes were the biggest toes, and therefore possibly higher on the evolutionary ladder.

Sudden vision of hundreds of domainers whipping off their socks to take a look. The research was genuine, though, whether or not the conclusion stands up (excruciating pun intended). :)

This is one of those random domains that someone was willing to pay alot of money for.

Some people will post that "you shouldn't question the bidding price" that "the buyer just wants the domain and they decide the value". These types of comments don't add anything to the discussion but people keep posting this in every thread. Kind of annoying.

Look at the dnjournal sales report, 'worse' domains than this one sell for more every week, and lots of them. If long toes is your fetish or business, then it's a perfect domain.

I've given up trying to understand every sale, sometimes there are markets and interests out there you just have no clue even exist.
