I was taking a look at the Google satellite image maps, and in many areas you can click on a Street View.
I was looking at a residential neighborhood, from the satellite view, and then "beamed down."
I've seen this a couple of months ago, but just looking today, I've got to wonder, how the hell you can position yourself on a street and look around - moving down the street either way, looking at houses and even people. On one street, there was a guy working under the hood of a white pick-up truck. A few houses down, a woman in a white shirt and light-blue shorts was standing on the curb, next to her mailbox, looking at a piece of mail.
You can zoom in and out, tilt up to the sky and see the sun or tilt down and look at the street.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!?!? Did they get a team of 50 million people driving around in cars with 3D cameras or what?
Also, on the Google maps, if you go to Kenner Louisiana, and zoom in at the end of Williams Blvd, next to Lake Pontchartrain, there is a riverboat casino. If you go out a little over the water, you see a jet flying (in the flight path) out of the airport, and if you zoom into the jet, you can even see what airline it is. (You've got to zoom in yourself to believe it).
You can "waste" a lot of time, zooming into famous landmarks around the world, or look at your previous homes, and other places - like rich coastal homes, beach resorts (haven't checked out any nude beaches yet), etc.
