I have found about 100 typos of a popular new domain. I don't really want to register all of them, is there any way I can get a vage idea of which are worth keeping? Any way I can see how many hits the typos get?

there are two ways to find out

a) reg and park

b) check to see if they were previously owned and dropped

There is no way to check how many hits a domain receives unless you actually register it. Other than actually registering it, the best thing to do would be to search for any backlinks, searches for the typo, etc.

now the grace period is gone, it's almost pot luck. If there are 100 variants I would be surprised if they all got noteable traffic unless it was an extremely popular site (i.e. top 5,000 alexa)

As a little bit of help, the ones I tend to find perform best are

the missing 2nd or third letters- may also apply to other letters but generally the ones with one dropped letter are best.

Common misspellings and plurals

these tend to perform better than extra letters, swapped letters etc, but this is a very general and basic rule, not hard and fast.

I would reg these first, test and then reg others if they hadn't gone already perhaps

I find that typos that are typed incorrectly in a browser, are also more often typed incorrectly when they are referenced on websites. Do a google search for the mis-typed name(s) and reg the ones that have the most references.

For example, take the term "Concierge"

If you search for "conciegre" you get 6k plus results, while "cocnierge" receives less than 200 results. It may not indicate traffic, but it will help you sort the list from most likely to least likely.

If this is a made up term or name, and is really new, this might not work for you. Find a registrar that allows tasting for a certain amount of time, and you can return the non-performers? Doesn't GoDaddy let you do this?
