I bought the name

b-i-g-g-e-r.com

to promote various enlargement products. I think it is a nice concept for illustrating growth, but I am sure the purists out there will disagree with me. Is there anyone that is on my side and is prepared to value it at more than reg fee?

i think the name itself is not worth anything. However i think your concept is great and if you develop the name it could definitely catch on.

If you do the radio test on this one: b dash i dash g dash g dash e dash r it's not sounding too pretty. I don't see it being worth anything sorry.

It's purely visual and intended for use in banner advertising.

I expect type-ins to be fewer than 1k per day :D

You did not have to reg the name in order to use the hyphens. ;)

hyphens = ZERO in resale value. b-i-g-g-e-r.com = $0.00

I did because I don't own bigger.com. I also had to use all the hyphens in this form to get the impact.

for example
b-gger.com might have been misinterpreted
big-ger.com (whose heard of a normal size ger?)
bi-gger.com (they're probably not bi-sexual either)

Taking my tongue out of my cheek re type-ins - if I get one type-in per year on this domain, it'll be my partner :D

Hyphens are great for expansion - smilies are the next step.

Sorry pair, but domains just aren't for typology experiments and artistic expressions.

Then just what are domains for? As an old-time-geek purist, myself, I feel that domains were not intended for an awful lot of what they're being (ab)used for these days, of which experimentation and artistic expression are a rather small part compared to the antics of marketing types, lawyers, and speculators.

Domain names are labels for web sites. Web sites are for making money and getting traffic. I believe you should use any tool to do this that is legal and does not breach internet codes of practice.
There is a shortage of enlargement names available, which of these do you think is the best, they all have associations.

herbalpenisenlargement.info
hugh-g-rection.com
bignaturally.com
b-i-g-g-e-r.com
failings.com
newwives.com
zeniths.com
bighot.com
ohplease.com
thrustme.com
bodylimits.com
etc........

I think b-i-g-g-e-r has gone a great visual impact and lots of potential. It will be interesting to see how the traffic grows.

bignaturally.com is the only one that doesn't look like it was posted to get a laugh..like hugh-g-rection, and b-i-g-g-e-r...(please dont tell me you really regged)...

so bignaturally.com gets my vote... "get big naturally"....but you can only sell herbal here...

keep looking....maybe buy one retail, instead of trying to reg..probably get a decent one for $100

big naturally is no good for penis enlargement, all searches and associations point to womens breast sites.

Two of my names that are getting results at the moment are

www.hormy.com
www.milfgirls.com

Both are down due to the Verio problems btw. I expect they would get $0 appraisals as well.

Some of the other names are great for feeder sites. Put them on a free host and push traffic to a main site. $100 is too much to pay for that sort of name. 100 of those is $10,000, and with shaveing, 404 theft and other problems, it's not worth spending that.

Actually, domain names are labels for hosts and networks connected to the Internet. Web sites are one of the things which can be served by such hosts, certainly, but so are e-mail addresses, FTP servers, IRC (Internet Relay Chat) servers, network infrastructure nodes, and many other things. Domain names play many roles other than as part of URLs. Domain names have existed since 1985, while the Web didn't exist until 1990, so it's obvious that domains weren't created for the Web.

Web sites are for making money and getting traffic.

Some of them, certainly. Others are for a wide range of purposes from stroking the creator's ego to promoting a political or religious agenda to scientific inquiry. For the first five years of the Web's existence (1990-95), making money was a minority interest (most sites were academic and governmental) and traffic was minimal, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't yet "really" the Web.

Thanks for your comments Dan. Actually names are aliases for IP addresses, and I understand the difference between the net and the web. I expect you have been reading these posts and will be aware that I have been attacked fairly consistently for my ideas. This is great because you learn more from criticism than from praise. The reason I posted the web site site comment is that virtually all my attacks have been based on web site use and traditional search engine theory. Sometimes it is worth spending large sums on a domain name, for me it is better to buy a name for reg fee and experiment with it and not have to service a large capital investment. These days it is fairly easy to get large numbers to you site, the important things are to get them to come back and to spend money or to absorb your message.

I think what I am saying is that I have come to the web late and don't have the experience/blinkered outlook that some others have. I am also getting burn by ignoring advice, but I hope I'm learning from this.

The net is a great place to be at the moment. There is lots of scope for individual expression. The variance in values for names like the-E.com and 18-30.com illustrate this. The use of Flash banners and introductions to drive some surfers away is another example.
