I am sure most of you are tired of selling names to each others and making nickel and dime for profit.

Everyone know that you can sell names to end users and make more money but the $1,925 question is how.

I would like to share what I have done. My technique may or may not work for you but it does not hurt to give it a try. I don't send spam emails to solicit the sale.

1. Many parking sites let you have the option to sell the name. Save the email address when someone making an inquiry about the name. They may not buy at this time but it shows they are a potential buyer in the future. Try to contact them once a month after find out who they are and what they are looking for.

2. Contact your local IT/Web design companies in your area. Introduce yourself to them and let them know you are in the domain business. They are the best middle man that you can find to close the gap between the end user and you. Be professional and offer commission to them if they help you sell the names.

The collection of contacts from #1 and #2 will be the good resources for you to open your end user market.

I sold 1 3 letter us for 2K a couple of weeks ago - another 3 letter us for 1K - currently in escrow transaction - I bought them at $49 each.
Last month I sold a cc name that I paid $29 for $800 to a consulting company in FL.

Feel free to share your experience here.

Thanks,
John

You represent yourself as a real estate agent. Ask them what are the needs from the clients and try to sell to them what you have from your inventory first.

Great tip on the programmers. Also, I would say that contacting end-users the old fashion way, snail mail, is also great. Again, lots of work, but once you get the standard letter down, just change the name of the domain. Get some nice letterhead, and start sending out letters. I am sure most of my end user contact emails end up in the spam box. The Canadian Marketing Association in Canada has a great source book if you are in Canada. Marketing associations have the media contacts.

Note:

Do not use free email to contact them: hotmail, gmail, etc...

Include contact information on the email: name, address and PHONE NUMBER - to build confidence.

Some good advice here, so it`s worth the bump for a thread that`s over half-a-year old.

7 months old thread but I am still using the technique and it works.

People are saying everything is slow but January was my best month so far.

Keep working hard guys.

And last but not least: time management.

Ask yourself a question: how much time did you try to do marketing yesterday vs the time that you do research and talk about weather, politics or something else!!!

I'm going to try a targeted sales this month. I don't know if soliciting end user sales fits me or not (I've never sold anything before), but what the heck, I'm gonna find out.

Great thread Johnn very interesting.

I just want share with the community a method I've tried 1 month ago (I'm trying to set up this method better and better).

I've create many videos on YouTube (watermarked them with my domains for sale).

Example: Upload a video that talk about webdesign (and watermarked with a domain for sale xxxxxdesign.com) so the point is use a domain linked to the theme of the video.

I've used a software to increase the YouTube visit so my videos stay in the first page of that section for days.

3 weeks later I received a x,xxx offer and the domain was sold...a webdesign company contact me to buy.

I don't know if this is lucky or not but I will try again.

Can you give a link to one of these videos? I'd be curious to see it. Thanks.

Hey... the Queen's asking. Dare you say "no"? (I'd like to see it too, please.)

Great thread and I realize some of the mistakes I made with my first letter to an end user. :(

I don't have videos runnin these days for personal problems I stay out business for some weeks.
I plan to restart this method in the next days for one of my LLL.net

I've used only 2 times this method (so it's a test) but I've make one sale.

I can give you the link to the products I've used to increase the visits and the comments to my videos (via proxy)

http://www.tubeincreaser.com/
http://www.tubeinator.com/

Now I have a question for you guys: It's clear the traffic when you park a domain need to be direct type-in traffic.
But if you make a videos on YT and watermarked (with a parked domain) it's against the TOS?

To be clear: a guy watch my video (no active link to my domain in the video description) and type in the browser my parked domain...I don't think it's against the TOS because the guy TYPE IN the domain.
I'm wrong??

Carter, I like that technique with the watermarked image on the blasted youtube video. Did you see an increase in traffic to your domain once you put the video up and used the program to increase the views? I will try that soon and see if I can get any bites.

Yeah I've see a 30% increment in traffic the next week I've upload the video (after a week my video received 100,000 views).

This might be getting a little OT (and I might just take it up through PMs) - how can I add a watermark to a video? Can Adobe Premier Elements do that?
