I have a longshot project of starting a similar site such as Facebook or MySpace for a specific group of people (in this case Ukrainians, such as myself). I do not want to install a lousy cheap selling script. How much would it cost to develop a decent script from scratch? Who to refer to?

Pretty much I need a lot of help with development, but I have the advertising and maintenance covered.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you and Happy Holidays.

I would suggestion talking to programmers who are very good in creating new scripts. Talk it over with them, get their opinions. Most can give you an estimate of cost and time length on how long it would take them to do it. Also you could possibly looking into sites such as rent a coder, or other sites that allow you to post you project and bid then the programmers will bid on the job.

I think that the cost could definitely run into some money but might be worth it. Only thing that ever worried me about having a site similiar to those is all the legal issues that could arise. Good luck with your idea.

You have to go after a niche, but be more creative then just doing a social site for ukranians.
