BattleForums.com, with its 6 years of history, is finally on the auction block hopefully for the last time. Due to the lack of funding for another project of mine, I've decided to let my baby go.

I'll get right to it.

BattleForums.com

BattleForums.com features a portal website (powered by custom CMS) and community forum (powered by vBulletin) that generates new content every day. It is Big-Boards.com listed and one of the most authoritative video gaming communities online. Apart from the obviously populated web forum (http://www.battleforums.com/forums), there are also a few unique portal features, including...

- A high-score flash arcade (http://www.battleforums.com/arcade.php)
- BF Lotto (http://www.battleforums.com/lotto.php)
- Original Article Database (http://www.battleforums.com/articles.php)
- Original Video Database (http://www.battleforums.com/videos.php)
- BF Signature Generator (http://www.battleforums.com/siggen.php)

Hundreds of hours of programming work has gone into developing the custom CMS powering the portal site of BattleForums.com. All the features listed above is fully integrated with each other, including the user's membership on the forums. Everything is also automatic, and a VERY easy-to-use admin control panel (http://www.battleforums.com/admin) makes updating content painless. Sophisticated stuff that cost a small fortune to develop. Even the registration system is modified so that users are asked to 'invite their friends' (facebook type viral invitation script - put in your email credentials, and they system will automatically send invitation emails to your contacts) once they have finished the registration process. All the holes have been filled, leaving a strong and solid website.

The entire portal site was launched silently a few months back, and has not yet been advertised. There is huge traffic and revenue potential (just take a look at the BF lotto!) that is ready, but untapped - all set up and ready for you to take advantage of.

Through a recently launched contest back in early August, we received 66 unique 400-2,000 word custom-written, gaming-based articles, and 30 original, gaming-based videos, as contest submissions. These have yet to be added to our current list of 23 original articles and 2 videos (none are original). I already have someone who will be reviewing and approving these new articles and videos for you, which will be added to our rich database. Submit any of these articles or videos to article directories or video sharing websites, and there's instant free traffic, as well as hundreds of high-quality backlinks. Again, ready and untapped traffic/revenue potential all set up and ready for you to take advantage of.

The community is based around 3 major games since 2002 and is slowly expanding to more. StarCraft, Diablo, and Warcraft. BattleForums.com is recognized by many as the source for the latest news and rumors concerning these games.

Traffic

BattleForums.com receives approximately 170,000 unique visitors per month, and 553,000 page views. At the time of this listing, the alexa ranking is at 34,166.

Just 3 days ago, one of our articles (http://digg.com/playable_web_games/RUMOR_Diablo_3_Release_Date_BEFORE_StarCraft_2) made it to digg.com's home page, and instantly brought in over 25,000 unique visitors within hours.

Here's a few traffic screen shots:
2008 Month Overview: http://www.battleforums.com/sale/monthstraffic.jpg
August Traffic Stats: http://www.battleforums.com/sale/augusttraffic.jpg
September Traffic Stats: http://www.battleforums.com/sale/septembertraffic.jpg
Referral Stats: http://www.battleforums.com/sale/referral.jpg

If you take a close look at the referral stats, you'll see that BattleForums.com is receiving most of its external page traffic from large xxx to x,xxx alexa ranked websites. Not only is this absolutely perfect for our SEO standings, it also creates a authoritative feel for users visiting BattleForums.com.

We also have a traffic system set up behind the scenes, that is currently in beta mode. It's an original and revolutionary idea I had a few months back, and is perfect for attracting partners for any type of event. It was used effectively in our 6th anniversary contest in August (which attracted over $2800 in sponsored prizes, $2000 of which was in cash).

We are also an authority website with Google. We have 145,000 pages listed on Google alone, and have 41,370 pages linking to BattleForums.com. 6 years of history gives you an advantage when it comes to search engine rankings. That's why the majority of our traffic is organic. We rank high for competitive search terms and have high long tail rankings.

Revenue Info

I purchased BattleForums.com late 2007 from a friend of mine. Unfortunately, the only way I kept track of revenue was through a notepad file with advertiser payment amount and time.

I started keeping track of detailed revenue stats for the month of August, and here is what I got:

$1950 Private Advertisers - August
$111 Adsense - August
$139 Tribal Fusion - August
$24 Vibrant Media - August
and some more ad networks I tested... (not counted)
$2224/month August Total

Here are the stats:

http://www.battleforums.com/sale/revaugusttribal.jpg
http://www.battleforums.com/sale/revaugustadsense.jpg

(explanations can be found on the above screens)

Projected September income is: $1980.10 (if no advertisers are added)

Staff

BattleForums.com is powered by a diligent and responsible staff team; Three administrators (including myself), 4 global moderators, and 6 forum leaders.

Everything is completely managed and set up so there is as little maintenance work required. The admins take care of the global mods, and the global mods take care of the forums. We even have a small team of members named the 'BF Terrorists' (it was a joke :p) that takes care of the whole promotion end of the site. None of these people are paid, which makes their volunteer work even more straight-out-the-heart.

There is little to no maintenance work required, and everything is handled for you, so you can spend your time monetizing and attracting advertisers.

StarCraft 2 & Diablo 3 Potential

I wanted to make a section for this alone on its own because of how important this is. The single largest selling features for this website is its growth potential. Simply put, it's HUGE.

BattleForums.com is the LARGEST Blizzard gaming community on the Internet. Blizzard has 3 major game titles that influence the lives of tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people - even as of today.

For around 10 years, Blizzard has not put out a new game for two of the three major game titles; StarCraft and Diablo. Why? Because they didn't need to; the demand and popularity for these two games are huge even after such a long time.

Last year, Blizzard announced the development of StarCraft 2. People were and are going crazy. A few months ago, Blizzard announced Diablo 3. People were and are going crazy.

Let me show you why this gives BattleForums.com huge traffic and revenue potential. When Blizzard announced that they are working on Diablo 3, since we were so authoritative in the search engines for certain search terms, our traffic nearly TRIPLED the day it was announced... and stayed there!

I saw my traffic go from 5,000 uniques/day to 15,000 uniques/day. My alexa ranking shot right up (or down) to the 20,000's. Revenue also shot right up.

So what can I say? That was just a game announcement. All they did was tell the press that they were working on a single game - imagine when they actually release the game..

If a single game development announcement can triple your traffic/revenue, what would 2 game releases do?

MISC

We really have a unique set of members. We even have an amazing graphic designer who actually did the logo for us (here's something else he made: http://flashflores2.deviantart.com/art/battleforums-tribute-62140660). We also have a rapper and a girl who published a book DEDICATED for BattleForums.com (view here: http://www.battleforums.com/forums/chit-chat/131968-diablo-iii-out.html - it was on Diablo 2).

All in all, BattleForums.com has an amazing history, and whoever decides to pick up this gem up is definitely in for a treat. Good luck, and happy bidding!
