How can you change the world? Many people have attempted, and many have failed.

I will let you know the answer later ;)

Thats a very important question....more important than most people realize. I don't believe any one person can change the world but I think we all can together.

To protect our world from certain catastrophe we must stop the burning of fossil fuels for energy. Its been reported our planet has already heated up by more than 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) since 2000 because of the manmade excess co2. This was the maximum target for 2015 and we've already reached it.

You can start with WorldVision.org. They're definitely doing good things to change the world.

Sorry, as cruel as this sounds, sponsoring children who live in poverty is contributing to the larger problem when they themselves go on to have children of their own who then live in worse poverty. It's a natural instinct to have more children so that some will survive to provide for you in your old age. The solution to most of Earth's problems is a sustainable population not sponsoring children at random, which is ultimately just sponsoring more suffering. Harsh, yes, but true.

It's often bandied around that "there's enough food for everyone on the planet", which may be true, provided all us Westerners would just stop eating at Denny's and eat our ration of half a cup of rice per day instead. But we know that none of us are going to sacrifice OUR way of life. Instead, you sponsor one kid out of billions to ease your conscience when you're driving your Lexus through the Macdonalds drive-thru.

Sorry, but it has to be said.

With World Vision, there are numerous ways to give.

From the About World Vision page linked to from here (link is on the right side of the page):

Transforming Communities
Responding to Emergencies
Promoting Justice for Children

According to the latest figure on World Vision's Children in Crisis page:

180 MILLION CHILDREN

worldwide are exploited and murdered.
As I wrote before, one can start with World Vision, but of course many similar organizations are now at work doing good things to change the world in ways that truly matter.

I appreciate your post Nova, I agree, sexual exploitation and trafficking of children is a major problem in the world and doesn't get the attention and awareness that it should.

Child sex tourism

Background

Sex tourism is a very lucrative industry that spans the globe. In 1998, the International Labour Organization reported its calculations that 2-14% of the gross domestic product of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Phillipines, and Thailand derives from sex tourism. In addition, while Asian countries, including Thailand, India, and the Phillipines, have long been prime destinations for child-sex tourists, in recent years, tourists have increasingly traveled to Mexico and Central America for their sexual exploits as well.....

Ignoring the problem wont make it go away, We need to bring attention to it and have the World Trade Organization play a bigger role than it has in the past.... In the meantime, we can help by donating to organizations that actually make a difference to these children and to the problem itself, the most active in this fight is UNICEF. The United Nations Children's Fund, and World Vision

Giving children in need a brighter future.

Preach the gospel.

A man gets saved, he walks away from his sin. A man or woman who stays faithful to his family, to his spouse, to his country is worth millions of dollars in social reforms. The power of change is in the hands of God but the choice to change and allow God to work is yours.
