Hello,
I have this big problem on my dedicated server, I have a mailbox containing more than 1.3 millions of mails (7gb lol) I don't know how this is possible as it has been up only for one or two month... Anyway, I need to access to this mailbox because there are some important mails I have to read.
The problem is that either if i try to access by pop (with outlook) or by webmail (with horde) it's very slow and then it timeout !

I run Interworx as my server software on Linux Fedora core 2.
Any advice?

I think most of the mails are from the same sender (there must be a bug), so if i can access to a few mail, maybe i can run a batch to erase all the mails from the same sender... But i don't know how to access these mails and how to run this batch!

Thanks for your help,
Romain

Holy Crap! 1.3 M mails??? You must be popular. At any rate, the reason you cannot "pop" the mail is because when your client looks to the box it takes inventory and then downloads the mail. To get directly on the server and blow the mail away would probably be your best bet. I had not had experience doing this kinda thing before but I will help anyway possible. If you have root access (which you should if it is your box) you should be able to go in and del some of that mail off.

If you have cpanel you could also log in, go to mail and delete the account which would delete the emails sitting on the server. Having that many emails is probably from a script gone real bad, or someone really doesn't like you and is mailbombing you constantly.

You could delete the account, then create it again with an account size of 1mb. This would allow you to log back in and see who all the mails are from and either filter or preferably fix the problem.
