I just backordered a dropping domain with the whois like this...

Registrant Name: Domain Transfer Escrow Service
Registrant Organization: Sedo.com LLC.
Registrant Street1: 161 First Street
Registrant City: Cambridge
Registrant State/Province: MA
Registrant Postal Code: 02142
Registrant Country: US
Registrant Phone: +1.6174997200
Registrant FAX: +1.6174997202
Registrant Email:[email protected]

What could this mean? Good or bad? Can anyone explain please?

Thanks

lol, looks like a domain was sold and in process of escrow then it dropped and you snagged it? Is that even possible?

Looks like the domain was bought through Sedo, but the buyer never updated the whois. Perhaps that's why he forgot to renew :)

He said he backordered it, didn't say he got it.

Where did you backorder it from? Which service?

I have a feeling that this is a domain that sedo took into its possession but the owner did not completed the transfer.

Numerous times I have had sedo ask me to push to their GoDaddy account or Moniker account to "hold" while waiting on the new owner to complete things on their end.

I would not be surprised at all if the domain with that WHOIS is one that fell off waiting on the new owner.

The good news is you may get a buyer calling you pretty fast, check sedo history and see if you can tell what the domain sold for so you have an idea what to ask for.

How do you check the sedo history without the auction id?

Hhhmmm

Could be just maybe the the deal didnt close and no one cares?

For example say you had a crap name ( info ) and sold it on sedo for XX-XXX and it didnt close, would you renew it or forget it? Dont scoff at this highly possible.

That could be it. But in my case, it's a 4 letter .info with over 30 million "exact" search result at Google, so I took my chances.
