Otherwise I may sell the info to the highest bidder.

The length might be a killer - how many letters? Is it a product or service name?

Is that Italian Ovt?

Be careful. it may have an OVT of that amount, but search engines in mobile phones are different. Its kinda like making orange juice with apples. Think of this:

1. when will a user access that site directly by entering in the URL?
2. Is it the first thing that comes to their minds while they are away from the PC?

There are 3 ways to access the site:

1. By entering the URL directly.
2. By mobile search engine
3. By official menus.

If you are confident of the above, GO FOR IT!!! :flame:

I think people that are good with mobile phones can type in 17 letters if it makes sense.
If there is a 17-letter .com and a 17-letter .mobi and i was outside with my mobile phone, id choose the .mobi. If you want to type in a 17-letter .com, youd pay more to your carrier. well, this is my 2 cents...

YES...VERY :greenyes: but don't take it personally

My point is, $18 is well worth the gamble... and I know for sure many others checked this one out to register...

:approve: but I snapped it a week before the flowers.mobi Sale...:approve:

...Sometimes you must Speculate to Accumilate

Time will tell.... or :bounce:

mobile internet use is forecast to surpass pc internet use.

I can't say it any clearer than that - people will be using the internet more and more on their mobiles. You can ignore it but it will happen anyway. People will be searching, shopping, surfing, buying and selling, listening to internet radio, making reservations, etc. on their mobiles, and it's started already.

.mobi is being set up as the extension of choice for mobile websites just as all this is happening. When the marketing wave hits and .mobi sites start being advertised and get into people's mindset, the extension will have made it.

If length is an issue, is it better to type in

domainname . com /mobile

or

domainname .mobi

I think the length of domain will become less and less of an issue with mobile, people will type in a domain or term if it is exactly what they are looking for, period. Sounds like this italian term is 17 characters but highly popular, so all of a sudden people won't use their mobiles to search or type in this highly popular term? I don't think so.

I think all the recent .mobi sales, and all the news out about mobile internet progress (if you haven't been asleep the past month), make .mobi a good calculated risk for popular terms.

People who haven't made at least a little investment in a few popular terms when they had the chance may be kicking themselves in time, IMO

thank you hugegrowth, your post added valid things ad certainly people who criticize .mobi are hard to understand when here the only issue is how useful is to reg names based just on Overture results.

For example these 3 words in Italian identify clearly the product but grammatically the 3 together especially in that order are wrong.

It`s like if in English I search:

"player music song"

That`s why I may register only one of those 3 words that still is strongly related to the product.
