How would I go about getting a loan for 6 grand? I don't want a loan from the bank of course, as that would mean interest, and I doubt they'd even give me a loan considering I don't have a job (earn living from my websites).

The reason is, there is a very popular website which I've talked to the owner, and he doesn't really want to sell it, but he after talking to him for some time, around 5 grand seems to be his 'weak' point where he strongly considers it.

If I had 5-6 grand, I'd jump on this no problem, but unfortunately I don't. I figure it would take me about a year to make the money back (thinking fairly conservatively)...

Any ideas?

hmmm.... no banks, no job, presumably no collateral. that's a tough sell.

Your best bet would be to get the owner to finance it for you. Offer him a contract for $6000, paid off in one year. After the first payment, you begin managing the web site. Once the payments are finished, he hands over the keys to the site (domain, hosting acct, etc). For him, it's a no-lose proposition, because he doesn't relinquish control until he's paid. The risk is all yours, which you can minimize with a solid contract written up by a lawyer.

Well ... there are times in life that you are just not at it, and you'll have to wait and work harder to get there. And except from your loved ones (or more accurately, those who love you ... very much) like family or really, really close friends, how on earth could you expect a loan with no interest? To be frank, if I had like 30 million or so, I would have no problem doubling that in 12 months. The problem is: where do I find that 30 million to start with?

Having said that, some kind of partnership (i.e. skills partnering with capital) is not uncommon. But still, you have to convince the investor with a persuasive portfolio; and for say anything more than a couple of thousands, I honestly don't think you can just find someone out there without any connection. You may want to start with your past or current clients. Good luck.

Hi MovieDomains,

That's a very good idea, but there's unfortunately a flaw to it. He's not exactly wanting to sell the site, but he's a little bit lured to the flat sum of cash he'd receive at once. Like a big pocket full of 5 grand.. so the alure of a based-out cash plan wouldn't appeal to him most likely...

I'd list the site here to show just how much money potential it has (and it's already making a decent amount of cash), and how it would actually merge with my exisiting site of the same genre, except I promised him I wouldn't release private information.

Hi DeCal,

Thanks, but I am DEFINITELY interested in owning this myself.. I'd definitely be open to paying back 300% of the investment though..

Hi Nameslave,

Well I'm definitely open to paying interest, in fact I'm willing to pay 300% of what it would cost to purchase it. The thing is, pitching this to a bank will most likely not work. They don't understand the Internet market like we do..
