ok i have heard and read tons on this forum, its great!
A friend of mine got me into this domain biz.
i have read alot about the value of a domain name isnt just traffic and income by clicking deals and stuff like that.
i read that whats getting more and more popular is if the domain name can be branded.
what does this mean? branding?
cause when i first read about it i thought branding was like getting all the TLD of a name. i might be way off cause im very very new to this.
but to me that sounds like a good idea, i mean getting all the TLD's on a domain name. for example 123.com would not be worth as much if you had 123.net 123.biz 123.info to go with the .com

does this make any sense to anyone? lol :)

please help me out.

Cheers!

Kind regards
Roy

Branding is getting your service or products known.

Think Nike, Coca-Cola, Home Depot,

You know these products, and their logos, because they have been effectively branded.

When you shop for "Name Brands" you know what you are getting.
Every time you buy a coke, you know what to expect when you drink it. Brown, bubbly, sugar water that has a distinct taste.

When you buy a less known Brand, often called generic, your not sure what your getting.

Brand is something you create over time, with excellent attention to your product and service.

Lots of dough to advertise doesn't hurt either. :-D

Any name is Brandable. For example look at text-link-ads.com
Not a very pretty looking name, and many here, including myself, would say stay away from hyphens as it decreases the value of the name.

But they did a good job of offering a reliable service/products and managed an effective marketing campaign.
They have been "Branded"

Hope that clears the term "branding" up for you.

I love you Cursal! lol :)
Thank you very much, that helps alot!
Cheers Mate!

my question now is, does the value of a domain name increase if you have most of the TLD to the domain name?

If the name is "strong" to begin with say Sex.com

now if you had sex.info, sex.eu, sex.co.uk, then yes.

if it was hjshsjdh.info, hjshsjdh.eu, hjshsjdh.co.uk then no.

Although if you hold several TLD extestion of a name where all the others are taken, they should be worth more.

There are many variables to name value and most often, from my POV, it comes down to how much an end-user will pay.
