Hmmm.

I don't see any value, unless IS has some meaning.

I think it means Information Systems, related to IT but not quite as good.

IS = Information Systems

not sure on value but it is a common term. My department at the retail firm I work for was up until a fortnight ago called information systems. We did however change it to IT in a bid to make it appear more up to date in the eyes of the business.

I think IS is still a common term but perhaps its appeal will lessen as more people adopt the more popular IT.

Still not a bad name though.
