And for once it's not a scam!

My building's management was having an Earth Day celebration and promotion. People who worked in the buildings were asked to go to the office (voluntarily) and fill out a survey about power conservation, using the new flourescent bulbs, etc, and each person who did it would get a reffle ticket for some prizes, a sapling, an inflatable Earth Day beach ball, T-shirts etc and each person who submitted the survey got a free 60W (equivelant) energy-efficnet light bulb. Since I already use these I thought it was a great opprotunity.

I did mine and they asked about our commitment to using the bulbs, since I already use them in all of my lights I stated that (I cannot improve from that).

Well, they had two other contests that they didn't promote, the most committed before and after Earth day. Since I said all (along with one other person) I won a six pack of energy efficient bulbs (about $20 - $25 value). And they're not the crappy generic ones that Home Depot sells, they're Phillips (I haven't used theirs yet but GEs are great!!).

Something small but very useful. This six pack will keep one light lit for many (MANY) years or six lights lit for several years and cut our electric bill a little.

Edit: 9 year lifespan (advertised) so if i get 5-7 years out of them then I won't have to buy a bulb for a lamp for another 30-35 years (and by then I think the lamp will be dead)

Hey, they may be a more expensive outlay than regular bulbs, but those power saver ones really do work.

Since I switched my house over to them about a year ago, I haven't had a single one blow (as opposed to having to replace at least one bulb at least once a fortnight... the wiring in my house is old).
Not to mention, I'm getting the same amount of light in my house, but I've cut about 1/3 of my power bill... You really don't realise how much power just the lighting in your house takes up until you swap it over for something that uses maybe 10% of what you're currently on.
Seriously, I'm just looking at my usage online, and we went from using 15.2KWh (kilowatt hours) to 10.3KWh... JUST FROM LIGHTBULBS!

Next step, bio-luminescent monitors, and a compressed gas fridge

Yea , but you won €65,000,000 in some euro lottery , not a $3 bulb.

If they gave out a dozen of condoms, it may last more than the light bulbs!

I don't know about you, but I would go thru a dozen condoms a lot faster than a dozen lightbulbs.
