Does this mean that ICANN will not have to answer to anyone anymore? What exactly does it mean for it to be fully privatized and autonomous.. based on the sneaky deals they've done behind closed doors with the registries, wouldn't them not having to answer to anyone be bad?

The question is, who will they have to answer to?

it will make it better for non-americans :whoo:
Not a chance! This is very bad knews for all domainers. ICANNT is a very very bad organization that is only interested in stuffing their own pockets by taxing the public/domainers. Now they are going toward not answering to anyone. That means they can just do whatever buddy buddy deals with verislime et al to raise your costs without providing any protection or representation for you. ICANNT is the enemy folks. Wake up!

They need to answer to somebody. If not, then the entire internet is in jeapordy. For example, who will be able to hold them accountable for the approval of unjustified price increases, by a monopoly, where no additional value is being added? ICANN must answer to somebody, some international body or group of governments! They've proved so many times that they can't run themselves.
