Some of you might have noticed the Microsoft launched http://ie6countdown.com/ a few days ago.

I registered ie7countdown.com, ie8countdown.com & ie9countdown.com, and between the three of them, they have received about 3,000 unique visitors since.

What do you all think? Are they worth anything? Or should I do something else with them?

Thanks for any feedback!

I think you are playing with fire registering names like this. I wouldn't bother with names like this.

I agree. Names like these are just not worth having no matter how high the traffic, although it is interesting to know that traffic was so high in just 3 days. If you can still cancel them I would suggest to do so.

Very interesting, thanks for the responses guys. Can you expand on why these are like "playing with fire"? When I bought them, I wasn't really expecting much out of them, it was more of an experiment. Thanks again!

1. IE 6 is a special case, it's the worst browser ever, the IE 7 / 8 / 9 are by far not so bad.
2. IE is a trademark, even without using the name you are in trouble just by having it registered under your name.

Okay, but issue #1 is an opinion...I can start a site that says Chrome/Firefox/Safari suck...that doesn't really qualify as playing with fire.

#2 on the other hand is totally valid, but I thought lots of people on this forum own trademarked domains. Also, is "IE" actually trademarked, or just "internet explorer"? Something I would have to look into I guess.
