Impossible to get low pricing at GoDaddy

At GoDaddy I pay $9.20 even though I have a lot of names there. My old acct exec (who is no longer there) lied to me promising $6.81 (permanent pricing) on all extensions and all new registrations and transfers in when he persuaded me to move all my domains there (mostly from WildWest) several mos ago.

In the past I used coupon codes but they seem to all be expired now. They refuse to give me lower online pricing, my own discount coupon code, or any other code after speaking to several different acct execs.

Was told the only way to get a discount from their costly $9.20 was by contacting my acct exec during business hrs 6:30 AM-2:30 PM M-F only, or possibly speak to a different acct exec until 7:30 PM.

They were extremely adamant about there being no other way even after I told them calling or emailing them during business hrs was not acceptable to me, even threatening to move my many domains away.

Now in process of writing a complaint letter to Bob Parsons but unlikely to have any effect.

I wish there was a more appreciative and low cost registrar where it would be worth the big hassle of transfering away.

type in google "godaddy" click on the sponsored listing that says domains for $6.95 and your domains will be $7.20 each don't add any coupon codes because they don't work together.

Doesn't save10 work any more? That brings the price down by almost a dollar.

I get sub $7 pricing due to volume, but I have to contact godaddy.com for this which is a bit of a pain. If i want to do urgent renewals (for expired domains!) I do this online at the $9.20 price with whatever discount I can get from coupons.

A reduced priced for online payments would be much better, even if it was a sliding scale according to how many domains are held.

They used to give discount according to how many domains were renewed at one time, but this didn't suit me either, as I don't usually renew very far ahead in order to optimise cash flow.

Thanks for the replies. I also received several PM's highly recommending Moniker. What with there being so many registrars out there and all being so highly competitive it seems odd that judging by the posts and PM's it seems the main option is Moniker. Any others?

Every day I get more disturbed and disappointed in GoDaddy and the way they handle what should be preferred clients. My Daughter who has 1 domain at GD actually gets more courtesy than me. GD has even personally called her thanking her for the business (not a sales call) but it appears large domainers are not thanked based on my experiences. It seems the only calls I ever get are only trying to sell me something or renew my soon expiring WildWest account.

Getting less than $9.20 is a big hassle. Hard to believe they have no online mechanism for giving their best customers any discounts. How stupid and nonsensical is that where someone with hundreds or even thousands of domains pays the same price (or even more) than someone with one!

P.S. In the past I always defended GD and posted good stuff about them when they were flamed here and at other forums but those days are over what with their seemingly negatively changed business model which obviously heavily favors new and small customers with courtesy, good deals and promos vs large and established long time clients.

Do you know that this is a direct violation to WWD reseller agreement! WWD or any WWD related company (GoDaddy) has no right to market to reseller customers!

I would suggest you transfer away every year from GoDaddy to a WWD reseller and vice versa. You have only to find out a WWD reseller that have activated the $6.95 transfer promotion...

Since it was my own WildWest he wanted me to transfer away from it's not a violation. Sorry that was not clear.

However, it certainly was fraudulent in that my soon fired Acct Exec persuaded me to more to GoDaddy and telling me GD had much better pricing than WW when the opposite is really true.

P.S. I am still a WW reseller :-( even though almost all my names were moved to GD as a result of that misleading BS involving GD being lower priced then and in the future vs WW (which he falsely guaranteed) :angry:

GD have very aggressive pricing from time to time, but of course they can not keep selling below the cost for a longer period... If you have considerable business and you do not want to use your WWD reseller (!?) then move to BlueRazor.com!

Thanks but after being outright lied to, great trouble and hassle, and paying much more extra money for a number of new registrations and new transfers since my big WW to GD transfer of several mos ago I would not want to stay with another GD Group firm like BlueRazor. Surely there are other good options.

P.S. The permanent $6.81 for all extensions which they falsely offered me was NOT below their cost as far as I can tell. Isn't their cost $6.25 or less, depending on ext?

It's much higher, trader! They pay $6.00 to Verisign, $0.25 to ICANN, 2.5% + $0.25 per transaction to their credit card processor, and have to make some margin to stay in business... But hey, selling domains is a loss making business! We all know this. What low cost registrars dwell upon to make their living is selling non domain products and services.

Isn't that mostly on com's? Are not US Info and some other ext less? I have a lot of US names.

Even if they do not make much money on my orders is it OK for them to deceive me as they did into transfering from WW to GD to falsely get better pricing? Now making me pay $9.20 for all online orders unless I personally speak to my acct exec at time of registration and beg for a discount, but only during business hrs to get better prices?

Why are you bothered? You're in charge, dictate your own pricing by taking your business elsewhere.

They obviously couldn't care less about you so move to somewhere that does, somewhere that appreciates your business and is willing to reflect that in the pricing you receive.

Because I have already lost a ton of money (more than you would guess) due to what happened and its ongoing to. It's also a huge hassle doing a big transfer away, needing vast amounts of time and attention, especially with all those needed auth codes.

Well, yet another reason to move away, carrying out management tasks shouldn't take long these days.

For example, at Moniker...

To unlock all my domains and request auth codes be sent to my admin email could be done in one action and would take less than 60 seconds to complete.

GD isn't geared for large portfolio holders, getting your names away from there would be time and money well spent.

Yes, at GD each name needs to be processed one at a time with one email auth code per domain and also individual email confirmations with 2 seperate codes required. Very tedious and time consuming.

Why is it the only feedback always involves Moniker? Does everyone here only use them?

No. I use enom.com as my preferred registrar and the place where I consolidate domains.
