Hi all,

I need pointers in increasing traffic to my site, getting listed in dmoz and yahoo directories (without paying hefty fees) and everything else that is required to attract more visitors.

much appreciated.

Regarding DMOZ, figure out what is the best category for your site. Look at the bottom to see that it has an editor. (If it doesn't still submit.) Then look at the other sites that have been allowed in. Ask yourself why they were allowed in. Then make your site have a similiar amount of content. Then submit it.

having had a brief look through selfpromotion i wouldnt reccomend the site

this part in particular is false
The bad news is that at present, the major search engines are taking months (that's months, plural!) to add new listings. The most important search engine, Google, updates on a 4 week cycle, and it usually takes 2-3 cycles to get in.

www.webmasterworld.com is the best seo forum on the web in my opinion

i run a simple reference page called ww.manual-submit.com and that lists all the search engines you need to submit to but if your unsure about anything please ask:)

I haven't looked at your list before - it looks really good.

Only one problem, you're filtering out one of the "soon to be rocketing upwards in value" categories. These are meaningful hyphenated domains. Would it be much extra work to include a seperate section with these.

Hyphens are always a good investment for their search engine value, but I have limited time for a free service and I have just recently added dot-nets and dot-orgs.

For curiosity, I will try a hyphenated search and see what gives.

Thanks for the feedback.
