We have all the versions of my 25 .in in .co.in as well. Not that we didn't want the other 75, due to higher demand for .in during pre-registration, we didn't get the .in's.
Our primary purpose is to develop it as network of sites related to India.
The typin traffic for my .co.in exceeds .in atleast by 5-10 times .
(But our .co.in typins traffic is not substancial)
We have developed some of our .co.in and are listed in the top in most search engines for some great keywords .
My gut feel is, since most of the .in domains are held by Domainers, with no intention of developing the same, it may never take off.
.com is still the king and instead of domainers registering or holding 2nd or 3rd tier .in's and .co.in's, they would be better of speculating on top IDN.com in Indian language.
(tier 1 .co.in & .in domains will always have good values).
