Just found this on webhosting.info site d
In a close watch on the recently launched '.IN' TLD, industry sources claimed that the .IN Registry recorded in excess of 75,000 .IN domain registrations, ever since the registry's launch in early January, reaching almost half-way through to the target of achieving 200,000 registrations in 6 months. The Registry is also expected to add 12 to 18 registrars by the end of February to the Official .IN Registrar list.
Amitabh Singhal, CEO of NIXI, stated that registrations which were opened for the public from February 16 have been achieved by the 18 registrars accredited in the .IN registry. "We expect the total number of accredited registrars for the .in domain names to be about 35 by the end of February," he said.
Ram Mohan, chief operating officer and chief technical officer of Afilias Inc, USA, which is a technical partner for NIXI, compared the security system of the .in domains to .com and .net, and claimed that the .in security systems were far better. "The .in registry is protected from breakdowns," he stated.
