A new article at DNJournal.com indicates a strong preference for .info names in some countries, with a surprising preference in the US as well.

I knew it was picking up steam, but could this be a picture of things to come?

I think .info has a good future - greater than .biz IMO I have recently reg'd a few for my end-user business and they fit absolutely fine for my needs. Good reseller possibilities as well I believe.

That's a fact. Just sold one for four figures myself earlier this week.

The king slot is taken. However, Prince might be a possibility!!!

Signed,

Your Royal subject :-D :-D :-D

Unfortunately The Artist Formerly Known as Prince has reclaimed that name. Looks like I am stuck at the Duke level, but it beats the crap out of Peon! :-D

It will be in the DNJournal.com weekly sales report as soon as it comes out of Escrow. Can't give away my site content in advance, otherwise you would have no reason to visit! :)

I think .info still requires a bit more time to waltz into the market however it is definetly better then some of the other alternative extensions such as .ws .

I wanted to do a little .info testing and see how google handling the domain. I hadn't seen many listed, so here's what I did.

As a spoof, I created a fake 404 error page here...

http://www.404error.info

I linked it from my PR7 site.

Besides the fact that it is already getting some traffic (ranked 272,800 at Alexa today), a google search of the three keywords (404 error info) places the site at #7.

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=404+error+info

So, it appears that Google will index .info properly. I Think this bodes quite well for those who have not been able to get good .coms. After all, next to making your name memorable, being able to get good google placement is a top priority.
