I have a dedicated server and I am launching an online business very soon. Now i had a question regarding the nameservers.
Lets say my domain is xxx.info. If I register ns1.xxx.info and ns2.xxx.info, will it have an impact on the speed? Like when people connect to a website hosted on my webserver, will it take more time looking up the records for the .info nameservers than a .com or .net nameserver?
Do you think I should maybe buy my domain in the .net form like xxx.net and use the nameservers ns1.xxx.net and ns2.xxx.net instead? Thanks and appreciate any response  :D

well thanks for your replies, but the main reason behind this was as I did a lookup for some domains other than .com on http://www.dnsstuff.com, it took off some points just because it was that tld. That's why I was wondering about this.
But as you say, it doesnt make any difference, i'll go with that. :)

I use .info for nameservers. They are as fast as the others!

If you use .info name servers on non-.info domains, the name servers you are using have to spend the extra time to resolve your .info name servers, so technically, yes, it is slower, but we're talking about fractions of a second here, so it really doesn't make much of a difference.

What happens if you are using .com nameservers on non-.com domains?

The same principle applies in that situation except for .net domains since .com and .net share the same name servers.

Like 1/6,000,000th of a second? :D

Loads of other things slow down a person's experience with the web, and Name Servers probably rank 1,050 in the list.

No, not that small.

More like anywhere between 1/600th to 1/6th of a second, and that's only if the name servers aren't already cached... :swg:

It's no big deal, really.
