Are all .info's basically a waste of money? Specifically if would something like newcars.info, assuming it would be available, have any real value?

Not a waste of money in my opinion. Especially geo's and high overture names. Just make sure the name matches the extension and only go for quality.

On the other hand, if you're looking for a liquid resale market, stick with .com

.info is a good extension in the right context: more for generic than "brandable" terms and well suited for SEO

There is a market for quality .info domains. The demand for .info domains will only increase in the future. If you check past sales there have been some good sales for keyword .infos.

The .info extension is another 'struggler' in the market. There is a piss-poor resale market unless you take the time to BUILD and RANK.

I think there is a reseller market which will get bigger in the near future. I have seen more sales for .info recently than .com/net on the forums. I have had better sales for some .infos than .com/net in some cases.

Domain Sold For

Travel.info $116,000
Science.info $30,000
CreditCard.info $25,500

I wouldn't say it's a waste of time. While not as valuable as .com, .info is best with highly commercial generic 1-2 words. Or for educational sites.

NewCars.info...hmmm. Kind of so-so. Cars.info would be better, sportscar.info would be better. Like aZooZa said; it's struggling but I wouldn't write it off just yet. However, don't take chances like you can with .com. I'd stay away from anything brandable and stick with commercial generics on .info.

I think meganerd hit the nail on the head. To add to what she said, I think three word generic .info with commercial appeal are good too.

BTW NewCars.info is a great name.

Absolutely, but the same can be said about second rate .com
