Insure.me is one of the most commercial .me domains. I would not be surprised to see it easily hit 6 figures, its worth though is 7 if not 8 figures. Yes, I do mean that.

Imagine the ease of branding for such a domain name in the print, radio, TV and online media. The only real drawback is the economic crunch we are presently in. But my prediction is simple, if it is not purchased by an end-user in this auction then in the next 3-5 years see news that it changes hands for rumoured amounts of 8 figures.

Insureme.com has an Alexa of 28k, this (insure.me) has the capability to easily outperform and go much higher.

I don't think any sane person would argue the value of the term however for the next 3-5 years people will be typing insureme.com now matter how many time you tell them it's insure.me. Habits, good and bad are hard to break. I would still prefer to drop that bucket of cash on the good .com, but that's just me.

My concern with .me has always been that its a CCTLD of a country that has only been in around for what 2 years? If the country were to dissolve what would happen to the extension? Would ICANN step in and keep .me alive?

If experience is any teacher, I think the more likely outcome is insure.me.com - however your point is well taken.

As to bd77's point, here is an excerpt from a page at:
http://www.toughdomains.com/domain-registry-tld-list.php

"Other historical TLD's are .cs for Czechoslovakia, .oz for Australia and .zr for Zaire. In contrast to these, the TLD .su has remained in active use despite the demise of the Soviet Union that it represents." - So maybe yes, maybe no. I think that the operators of .me would probably want to step in to save the .TLD name, which arguably probably should just become an .anyTLD at that point should the worst occur.

Best,

-Commerce
