Brilliant thinking. This is the kind of thinking we need here in the .mobi world.
The FUTURE uses of the mobile internet.

I would like to hear others comment on their theories about mobile uses.

I think that GPS will make enable delivery of specific 'local' content to the mobile user. There are many commercial applications for information based on your location.

Ideas......

After hearing Pinky Brand discussing pay per call in a chat the other day and then reading this thread I can see that number equivilant mobis could have a huge impact on mobile internet.

I wouldn't go overboard regging and stick only to top mobile keywords but the numbers make sense for the mobile environment........

Personally, I can't see it... but that wouldn't be the first time I've missed a huge opportunity! Skype and similar aren't awash with numbers because people would rather advertise themselves as an actual name or handle... how many people on these boards are called '89898282'. ;)

The way I see it, mobile internet unshackles people from having to use numbers. Sure, they're a universal language and that's stood us in good stead since good old Mr Bell played some music over a copper wire but surely this latest development will mean at some point in the future I'll be able to say simply I want to 'communicate with' [email protected]. It will be his preference whether that 'attempt' is routed as a voicemail, dictated email or voice call..

Consider the possibility that one day numbers will be replaced by letters as the default mode of operation on a mobile keypad...

More fuel for the fire anyway...

:peace:

hallelujah !!... We have more believers in the House...:approve:

Thankyou for your support guys

Oh, and just before you check....I checked myself but someone beat me to it with hallelujah.mobi

Please spread the word.

I stand by what I had said and would like to bring it into the Mobi Mainstream threads for more people to comment/discuss...

We are talking about A single easy to remember number without any area dialing codes - this cannot be achived through different telephone operators (including mobile) around the world as they all have different codes and numberring systems. But just in case you do fancy a memorable telephone number which would still be area limited, it will still cost you an ARM and a LEG....for example (and this is the Reality)...

http://search.ebay.co.uk/mobile-numbers_W0QQfromZR8QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQsbrsrtZd

Remember, these are only Restricted with additional dialing codes for use around the world...

I think ".mobi" would work as Single Dialing code WorldWide with a VOIP System in place

So if I need a Limo service from anywhere around the world you would dial 5466.mobi (LIMO) at it takes you directly to talk to an operator via the Company VOIP (VoiceOverInternetProtocol) Network and you can Enquire/Check Availability/arrange booking within minutes.... vola !

and the same goes with buying/sending Flowers etc

Yes, you can have any 'number' .mobi in the world for peanuts like 26229754667.mobi (BOBBY's LIMOS) but not the most appealing to any Larger Companies/Worldwide Operators :greenconfused:

If you look hard, you'll notice almost every Generic Word equivalant Number dot com is already taken (and wasted IMHO). and .NET .ORG .INFO etc are no way appealing for a Mobile Phone (not even the Dot COM IMHO)

Mobile Phones = DotMobies :)

So maybe I was a bit smart in regging 76278 (smart) .mobi in the VOIP environment????

I have just seen this, common short codes, priced at $500-1000 per month
http://www.usshortcodes.com/csc_whatDo.html

I must admit to being a bit of a dummy with telephony, there seems an awful lot going on.

76 2 78 also quite memorable
