The only way that I would buy followers today is to run a campaign where I know that I am targeting the people that I want to follow my projects. You can see right through fake followers and it reflects poorly.

Paying to promote your post / content to a target demographic can increase you followers / subscribers but avoid services that sell social media followers. You'll end up with a low quality community and zero reach.

Content is king and nothing wrong with advertising good content.
